Japanese Acoustic Luthier Hayase Complete Build
A one-hour precision acoustic guitar build by Hayase Guitar Studio in Taketa City, Oita Prefecture. This is a workshop that handcrafts custom-made acoustic guitars. We filmed the owner Hayase making a guitar over the course of four months. The life of a guitar luthier who lives with his family in an old house in the countryside. Luthier Backgrounder: "Hayasewa" is a luthier with a workshop in Oita Prefecture in Japan. After studying guitars in the Kanto workshop in his 20s, he visited the "SUMI Kobo", president in the master craftsman "Eiichi Washimi", and trained for about four and a half years. "SUMI Kobo" mainly worked on bracing (power tree), assembling the body, polishing wood and paint, and repairing the guitar production technology. In 2016, he became independent, renovated a barn in the mountains of Takeda City, Oita Prefecture, and set up a workshop to create new works every day, mainly acoustic guitars and ukulele.
