This double top classical guitar is simply amazing! It has such a rich, gorgeous, powerful voice, a voice that will fill a performance venue with beauty, the kind of beauty that draws the audience to you, the performer. And this guitar is LOUD! It has a Western Red Cedar top that was aged in my workshop for fifteen years and is paired with a wonderful back and side set of Santos Rosewood. The neck is Spanish Cedar with a Macassar Ebony fretboard, there is a 7th position Mother of Pearl dot on the fretboard edge. Bindings and bridge are East Indian Rosewood, the bridge tie block cover is Mother of Pearl bordered with bone. All strings are even across the sound board, full bass strings and there is no lack of volume in the treble strings. Hand applied French polish finish. 650mm scale length, 53mm at the nut, 63mm at the 12th fret and a 58mm string spacing at the bridge. String action height at the 12th fret is a standard 3.9mm for the sixth string, 3.2mm for the first string, this guitar is easy to play for both hands!

When I started to make this guitar, I asked myself, “What if Andrés Segovia’s famous 1912 Manuel Ramirez guitar had a composite/double/sandwich top?” Nearly everything about this guitar is based upon R.E. Brune’s drawings of Segovia’s guitar, the outline, body depths, sound hole diameter, bindings, purflings, and neck shape match Brune’s drawings. I chose the tonewoods based upon their sonic qualities and visual beauty. The top is a composite of solid cedar face, honeycomb Nomex inlay with a cedar veneer interior. This top is nearly 20% lighter than a traditional solid top. The top bracing is not based on the original Ramirez design, it is my own design. My goal was to make a guitar with voice that invites both performer and audience to enjoy the music that is played upon it.
